Tales of El Salvador

An interactive book about the many folk tales and legends from El Salvador.
It was important to me to make the project of my Master’s thesis something personal, so I decided to choose the topic of Cultural Games and develop a living book that aims to share the tales that have been passed down in my country for generations, about the many colorful characters and creatures such as el Cipitío and la Siguanaba.

The project features an animated story created by me, UI elements based on traditional drawing styles from the country as well as pictures of El Salvador’s landscapes and people. While moving around the art gallery, players can also spot different iconic elements from Salvadoran culture such as our national flower, pieces of clothing, and our traditional food.

The art gallery featured in the game contains retellings of 27 different Salvadoran folk tales, written by me. And since I wanted to properly represent our small country, I collaborated with other Salvadoran illustrators and photographers. In its current status, the art gallery features the work of 49 Salvadoran artists.
